How to make CMD-k be your Google Search keyboard shortcut in Safari

  1. Open up System Preferences and select Keyboard.
  2. Select the tab for Keyboard Shortcuts.
  3. Click on Application Shortcuts. Press “+” to add a new one.
  4. Select Safari, name the shortcut “Google Search…” [exactly!], and type CMD-k. Save. (Note: it won’t work if you don’t put exactly this string into the description.)
  5. Restart Safari. Presto!

(PS: do ensure first that you don’t already have CMD-k assigned to another keyboard shortcut!)
